The governmental Renewables 2004 Conference brought together more than 3,000 delegates and observers from 154 countries last week, 1-4 June, in the former German Bundestag in Bonn. The prelude was the Second World Renewable Energy Forum (29-31 March, 500 participants from all continents), organized by the World Council for Renewable Energy (WCRE) and EUROSOLAR. In addition, the German Bundestag invited parliamentarians from all over the world to the International Parliamentary Forum on Renewable Energy with more than 350 participants from around 80 countries.

Statement of Dr. Hermann Scheer, president of EUROSOLAR, on the European Commission draft ‘Proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning measures to safeguard security of electricity supply and infrastructure investment’.

In 2003 EUROSOLAR awards for the 10th time the European Solar Prize for outstanding examples and initiatives for the utilization of Renewable Energies. Since 1994, this Prize has been awarded in various categories.

Regarding the Draft Constitution of the EU-Convention the President of EUROSOLAR and Chairman of the World Council for Renewable Energy (WCRE), Dr. Hermann Scheer, MP, declares:

Following the resolution of the German Federal Government to support the initiative for the establishment of an "International Renewable Energy Agency" (IRENA) the manager of EUROSOLAR Irm Pontenagel declared: "The resolution of the Federal German Parliament from April, 10, 2003 supports the German Government initiative for the establishment of IRENA, which is the first official political step on the way to the establishment of this new international government organization."
