World Future Council brochure, June, 2007 A guide to one of the world's best environmental policies Climate Change “is the greatest market failure the world has seen”. This analysis from Nicholas Stern has stimulated decision makers in many countries to consider new approaches to energy policy. Energy is the most important factor in human development, but our present dependence on fossil fuels is in danger of causing untold harm to future generations. Renewable energy (RE) is the best overall solution to climate, energy and economic security. Feed-In Tariffs - Boosting Energy for our Future (pdf) www.worldfuturecouncil.org |

World Renewable Energy Assembly (WREA) 2005, Bonn/Germany, Final Communiqué The Human Right to Renewable Energy
“All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.“ This first sentence of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights articulates a basic human commitment. Only by respecting this commitment, a humane life in peace can be assured durably. Energy is the fundamental prerequisite of every life. The continued increase of the use of Renewable Energies makes Nuclear Power superfluous The depletion of the liquid oil and fossil gas reserves approaches. The climate change caused by fossil fuel emissions has taken dramatic forms in the shape of ever often occurring weather catastrophes with ever increasing impact in combination with their resulting economic damage. The broad switch to Renewable Energies is overdue, combined with a tremendous reduction of energy consumption through consequent efficiency increase. WCRE paper, June, 2004
Future urban development with Renewable Energy: towards the global renewable energy habitat The direction of modern urbanisation has reached a technological dead-end; the situation is extremely precarious, locally and globally. Global urbanisation has been fuelled by its dependency on cheap fossil fuel powered electrification and gasoline-powered transport systems. Now, as both fuel supplies approach their commercially attainable end, and it becomes apparent that almost three-quarters of man-made carbon emissions are derived from cities' fossil fuel consumption, all stops must be pulled out to go far beyond 'making cities sustainable'. The challenge is no less than to rescue civilisation as we know it, and to avert the worst calamities. Solar Habitat in Cities and Villages (pdf) |
