The Czech Parliament has adopted a new feed-in law for renewable energy at the end of March which was published at the beginning of May. The new legislation includes a shift towards a feed-in tariff scheme which has been the main driver in the internationally leading wind markets.

The Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, has declared the massive mobilisation of renewable energy as a major political goal: 33% of California’s energy supply is to be based on renewable energy by the year 2020 (sun, wind, water, plant fuel). As one of the measures to reach this target, a draft bill has been presented on Monday to implement a 1,000,000 solar roof program.

On the first day of the 3rd World Wind Conference, held in Beijing from the 1st to 4th of November, member of the German Parliament Hermann Scheer and Minister for the Environment Jürgen Trittin have been awarded by the World Wind Energy Association.  With the award the conference honoured Germany’s leading position in wind energy, to which both politicians contributed substantially. Furthermore both laureates were awarded for their international engagement in promoting wind energy.
