Car industry diminishes itselfPress Release, March 30th, 2005

With regard to the car industry´s legal action against the enactment for climate protection of the Californian administration, the German parliamentarian, president of EUROSOLAR and general chairman of the World Council for Renewable Energy (WCRE) declares:

It is absolutely incomprehensible why German, US-American and Japanese car manufacturers tackle Californian requirements for the environment, instead of engaging in the policy frameworks, which the Californian government has launched for new cars starting in 2009.

With this lawsuit the car industry diminishes itself more than it needs. It is already able to use engine technologies, which are powered by climate friendly fuels from renewable energy and with higher energy efficiency. In addition, it badly affects its world-wide image as a top industry sector – something which has not been considered. The car manufactures should withdraw their legal action as soon as possible – already in its own interest.
